Dr. Anderson recently addressed a management training program for new IT leaders. As a part of his presentation, Dr. Anderson told the story of the Piper Alpha drilling platform that bust into flames in the middle of the North Sea in 1988.
His purpose for telling this story was to convince the gathered IT managers that simply doing nothing was not a career choice that they have. Instead they are going to have to make some tough decisions and learn to live with the results of those decisions.
